Within the 11th European Meeting on Environmental Chemistry (EMEC11), the University of Nova Gorica, Graduate Program in Environmental Sciences has organized for graduate students, a preconference International School entitled Monitoring, fate and toxicity of toxic compounds in the terrestiral environment. The International school will be held in Nova Gorica, Slovenia, during the period from 29.11. until 11.12.2010.

The objective of the International School is to provide students with the opportunity to combine their study and research interests with an international team of experts in the field of environmental chemistry and toxicology. In the context of the International School we have invited top researchers and lecturers from various universities who will offer courses in the areas of environmental research, particularly with a view to promoting research in environmental sciences in order to support education in fields related to environmental chemistry. The main topics covered are chemicals, their mobility in the terrestrial environment, transformations, degradation processes and toxicity. They will connect chemistry with biology, soil, hydrological and atmospheric sciences, and toxicology. The programme will be organized in the form of intensive lectures, round table discussion and case studies together with laboratory practice.

The International School will be financially supported by CMEPIUS, which offers 30 free positions for students from CEEPUS countries. For participants from other countries the organizers will charge a registration fee of 125 euro. The organisers will cover accommodation and food expenses. For participants to the International school the attendance to EMEC11 will be free of charge.

Candidates will be able to obtain ECTS credits for the workshop after their final evaluation.
